I have really enjoyed the Walkaround. My name is R. Dale Mayeux and I was the Crew Chief on F-100D 56-081 at England Air Force Base in Alexandria, Louisiana From Sept. 1970 when it landed at England AFB from Vietnam till 1972 went it left for the Ohio Air National Guard in Lockbourne AFB. I remember the day it landed at England AFB. Just (4) F-100D's landed every day from Vietnam and #081 was the 1st of the 4 that day and I was assigned to it from that day forward till late in 1972 when it flew out to the Ohio National Guard.

I had always thought/wondered about #081 and where it ended up until I recently look up the tail number 56-081 and found it on the internet. I had no idea it had been in storage, taken out of storage, used as a target drown, shot down and out of all the F-100D’s manfactured it was the only one totally restored and was at the MAPS Air Museum. I was thrilled to find it and one day soon, I will fly from Baton Rouge, La. to North Canton, Ohio to be with it once again. Dale Mayeux
