I think it’s time to go to a mixed media format here. The boxes are just too thick. The was a time when something like this would be offered in PE. The inside of the box would have the reinforcement ribs etched into the brass. Then you’d take a ball point pen and press the detail into the inside, creating a very realistic look on the outside. Even the lid, with hinges, should be photos etched. As for the ammo, 3D printing is fine, but like every other set I’ve seen, the links need to be done with a little more finesse.

I agree with @18bravo ; making the ammo can out of PE and the ammo in 3D printed resin will yield a superior look.

The can has a lip on the edge, so I think the wall thickness of this kit is not so noticeable:

I didn’t notice the sides of the containers because the clunky link detail distracted my attention. On the brightside looks better plastic.

Most of the kit manufacturers have offered this box at some time.

The stamped "X"s look a little better on the real parts than in the CAD drawing. However, the human eye can discern when something is too thick, even taking the lip into account. And the lid should absolutely be PE.
If I absolutely had to use it, I’d make the lid myself from shim stock, including the little retention clips. Easy peazy.
