That’s not a .50cal. It’s a .303 Browning used in aircraft. The LRDG salvaged weapons from downed or scrapped RAF planes and modified them for use. There are pictures showing them being used both in single and twin mounts.

Thanks. I should have caught that.

Quite right, but still doable if you like the .50.

Interesting. There’s also a BESA machine gun usually mounted in tanks.
Would be nice to see them do the big Vickers water cooled .50. Just not sure if they were ever mounted in the Ford, have seen them on the Chevy though.

I am going to get the kit just for the Besa machine guns. I am working on a diorama with Churchills in Brest. At least two are shown in the book Americans in Brest where they borrowed at least one with the Petard mortar and a Crocodile. These were usually accompanied by at least three Churchill Mk 3s reworked, or Mk 4s. Im working on the tanks bivouacked and the crew cleaning their weapons, cooking, making sure the engine is in good order, etc. Ive been trying to make Besas being broken down for cleaning, and it looks like these could be better than the ones I have made. But we will find out soon enough.
