Great kit, found this image and noted the amount of brass build when in use.

Will definitely need one of those auxiliary sets to complete a scene

Excellent photo. It looks as if wearing the life jacket was optional - depending on whether or not you were going to blasted into the water or not.

What it doesn’t tell you on the box is that it comes with metal springs and barrels. Looks to be quite the kit. I’ll know soon enough.

I just recieved mine today. I wonder when the figures and ammo will be available? This is the first time I’ve seen them.

Welcome to the forum.
I’ll let you know when mine arrive. Apparently the figures come from a company called Toucan. I don’t know if they’re part of Zimi or just work hand in hand with them, but the photos look pretty darned good.

What are your impressions of the Zimi kit? Particularly on the wood grain effect.

I haven’t opened it yet, i have a couple of inwork i want to finish first. I should have looked closer at the figure pics. I read the article, and it said that Zimi was releasing them. Those built up pics look great though.

Did anyone actually built this kit? I have the kit as well as the Toucan magazines and figures and close to finishing the kit. However, the ammo racks from PE are a disaster to attach to the round wall. Anyone having tips?

Cheers,
Remco

A belated welcome to the forum.
I’ve started it, but am not nearly as far along as you are. However, looking forward in the instructions one thing is clear to me - I’ll fiddle with adding those racks before adding the curved sections to the base.
Any ideas as to which is more prevalent - the natural wood or black painted wood?

Edit:
I now see that the PE pieces are too long - they will indeed have to be added after the curved parts are assembled. I can see the miniscule mounting tabs, but they look worth less. I think it might com down to building a “ledge” for the racks to rest on - maybe from .020 x .020 Evergeen, It would be absolutely hidden from view.
Looking at the actual plastic curved pieces I’m baffled as to why they didn’t do exactly that.

Thanks for your response. I have been struggling with different kinds of ledges, but not satisfied yet. Fortunately, I have another idea which I will try in the next few days.

Please let us know. Did any of your attempts resemble my idea of using .020 x .020 strips? I think Zimi should have put fold down tabs on the pieces every .5 inches or so.

Ok, my brilliant idea didn’t work out either, so I returned to ledges. I finally found a good way to do it. I used .015 x .060 Evergreen strips and I am satisfied now. Zimi should definitely think about adding fold tabs.
Oh, and I cut the longer ammo racks in two for ease of attaching and for better allignment.

That was a good idea. I doubt they came that long in real life. It looks good. When the rounds are in place the strips won’t even be visible.
