1/35 M3A2 and M2A2 Questions

Thanks! So this one doesn’t have the upper hull and upper turret armor plates? The Tamiya M2A2 ODS kit would be the base for that one? Or would the Meng M2A3 work?

It is an M2A2 ODS new build. The Academy M2A2 OIF kit would be better as it has the newer, one-piece front glacis plate and additional lifting/tow points on the final drives, along with a few other ODS upgrades.

Can anyone ID the objects on these Bradleys? The square object on the front of the turret in the first image and the second image seems to be the same Bradley on the left. Also on the second image, what is the object on the side of the turret next to the commander’s hatch.

This Bradley also has the object on the side of the turret which looks the same as the object in the second image of the one on the right.

As no one else has hazarded a guess - I’ll give it a SWAG. They could be an interim solution for an IR spotlight, similar to the XSW-30-U.

Thanks! Still searching for more images but nothing else so far.

Now I’m in the process of converting a Meng M3A3 into an M3A2 ODS. Two questions about it. Is the rear hatch coated with anti-slip paint? Are there metal strips around it, like in the M2A2 version?
Thank you!

Great job sanding down the upper hull armor. Which M3A2 ODS are you building?

Thanks. It’s an M3A2 from the 4th Cavalry Regiment during their time in Germany around 2001.

Hello, I know, it’s been a long time, but I finally finished the design of the MCD Mount for the M2 / M3. The prototypes fit the Tamiya doghouse pretty well.

They are primarily designed for my MCD but I already adjusted it to fit the Tamiya MCD (Coming with their M1 Abrams), too.

When using the Tamiya M2A2 ODS kit to make this M3A2 ODS shown below, I already know I need to change the loader’s hatch cover. Would I also need to change the commander’s and driver’s hatch covers as well?
Imgur

Below are the Tamiya M2A2 ODS (right) and Meng M3A3 (left) driver’s hatch covers. I know the hinges are different but would the driver’s hatch cover from the M3A3 be used on the M3A2 as well? You can see that the Tamiya hatch cover has ridges on the left and right of the hatch cover while the Meng one doesn’t have them.

Here are the commander’s hatch covers, Tamiya on right and Meng on left. The Tamiya has that flat rectangular ridge on top while Meng doesn’t. Would the M3A3 commander’s hatch be the same as on the M3A2 for the one shown above in the first image?
