A friend of mine 3d printed some ww1 pilots from a file he found online. I don’t know whether that’s an option for you. They are fairly minimal but actually work ok in 1/48 as well.

Good idea, Phil. I actually think I will find some old airfix og matchbox pilots from the spares box. This is 1/72 scale, so should work.

No interior at all so I threw in some rough bits with a bit of plastic card. Assembly complete.
Dark base for the silver.
Silver coat.

On the plus side with these early planes there wasn’t much in the cockpit anyway. Some fine builds guys!

Decals done! For being 40 yeasr old decals they held up remarkably well. Pretty thick, but didn’t break up at all and eventually settled down ok.

Progress is pretty slow on the AMC pusher.
I have struts painted, sorted and dry fitted.
The underside of the top wing with the rigging pre installed
and completed. This is only the rigging. The control wires are yet to be fitted. They can be done when the tail is attached.

Impressive rigging! How did you fasten it the lower wing?

Thanks Jesper. The kit comes with rigging holes in the the two wings. After painting I just clean them out with with 0.4mm drill bit. Having pre-loaded the top wing with ez-line as rigging, which are slightly too long, I just use tweezers to get just enough tautness in the line for the length and cut it with scissors. Then a dab of CA glue in the corresponding hole and hold the end of the line in the glue until it sticks. It can be a bit hit and miss. I think for the thirty odd pieces of rigging it took about 50 attempts to get them all in place.

There will be a number of tiny holes filled with super glue at the underside of the bottom wing? So that means you sand and repaint at the bottom of the wing?

Hi Jesper, the clarify, the holes are not through the wing just in the surface. For the lower wing I just just a small amount of green wash to remove the shine of the CA.
