IT seems that MiniArt is making products which will enable the modeler to build an entire European 1930s-40s life at peace if one had existed. Now they are reminding us of where the meats we eat came from! Previously only MK35 committed to building a French scale society of small villages and country life. Ever noticed how none of their buildings, the finest the hobby world has ever produced because they were often entire four sided buildings, and now MiniArt is doing that for much of the continent. At the moment in the history of modeling we are living beyond even the most golden of times where you can build peace or normal life interrupted by war, with soldiers fighting, soldiers who are dead, soldiers relieving themselves, children at war along side adults, on trains, in cars or trucks, in the air, and even remotely guided missiles with mobile launchers, and the fuel trucks and generators to get it into the air! And now, with the things Border Models is doing, we are seeing 1/35 German submarines being loaded or firing anti aircraft guns and even the launching deck and island of a Japanese carrier in the pacific. Wood, plastic, resin, photo etch, 3D printing scratch building, and painting a thousand different colors with different media like acrylic, enamel, etc., from a small marker pen, a brush, an air brush or paint can. Gosh. Its overwhelming.

That is the role Stalingrad civilian figures and some Women Bathing from various companies like Royal Models are for. Especially the racy woman wearing nothing but a German tunic and officers hat and down on her knees. Well, sure that happened but my participation in the hobby is often rated Adult for violent content and disturbing images, NOT sexual content.

I like the civilian sets they make. It doesn’t all have to be about war and strife. Maybe it’s the beginning of modeling in 1/35 that doesn’t include a bombed out building and destroyed cities.I’m in.

20 years ago everyone called it “The Golden Age” of modeling because we had aftermarket companies giving us PE sets, metal barrels, indy link tracks, and resin conversions.
Today’s retail market and aftermarket simply swamp what we had 20 years ago. We couldn’t have imagined so many small companies producing so many products that it’s hard to keep up with current releases and impossible to buy them all. But seemingly, no matter what you want to build, there’s a set for that. This hobby is exploding in a time when the old-timers predicted, almost demanded it’s demise.
This hobby is expanding by the day, and we’re all buying it up in record numbers, as can be seen by all the new manufacturers selling out around the world. Today we are most certainly living in a “Golden Age” of modeling, until next year when it will be even more golden.

These civilian figures are welcomed. I wish more model companies would do more modern civilians as well.

Does it have to go right to that? SMH.

Some of the stuff I’ve done in the past included all three. They won’t be posted here, and I don’t know any other board where they would be welcome, probably rightly so. I also have other figures I’ve bought in the past which I’ll never complete, not because of moral scruples but because my declining skills cannot now do them justice. Standards have changed, even what are now established companies (e.g. Citadel Miniatures/Games Workshop) once offered some extreme stuff, and that market is still being supplies by small specialist manufacturers.

FS7-1 Naked Girl bound Hand and Foot (sodemons.com)
FS8-2 Naked Girl bound to Post (sodemons.com)
