A Cold War Question

came across this msp of West Germany and it displays the 4 zone that the allies were responsible and I was wondering why there was 2 American areas located in the British zone, one is probably a port facility which kind of explains itself but what about the other area?

The small blip on the North Sea is the port of Bremerhaven. The larger blob just below it is the town of Bremen, which is where the port feeds into and the rail and road networks are. These were kept to facilitate the movement of supplies (and potentially forces) into W. Germany.

The spot just North of Bremen was one combat brigade of the 2nd Armored Division at Lucius D Clay Kaserne designated as (Forward). Spent 18 months there in '88-89. It is now a German logistics base. We were part of NORTHAG. Dutch close by at Seedorf and British at Bergen Hohne. We took part in Operation Free Lion '88 soon after our battalion, 3/66 AR, rotated in replacing one of the 41 infantry battalions.

I think you’re right about the port, possibly Bremerhaven? Dunno with that type of map, and I can’t be bothered to “map” it across (sorry about that) to anything more detailed.

The other orange blob could be a POMCUS depot somewhere perhaps, but then the one at Moenchengladbach isn’t shown; I’m not sure. Perhaps not, in scale that’s actually quite a bit of real estate. Something US in Bremen?

I mean, you say you “came across it” - no clues in the parent document or whatever?

well, it’s that or listen to the wife banging on about Jordan a.k.a. Katie Price a.k.a. Slapper of the year 2010-2026. Personally I wouldn’t touch that if it was the last woman alive.

Had to look her up; read the Wikipedia page. My oh my that is a LOT of makeup on that face. Or does she have an exhibit at Madame Tussaud’s?

Do you remember Folks? I regaled you once with a story of how I took her out to Bosnia to see the Troops?

sprinkled randomly when she is ‘banging on’

back in the 80’s she was very pretty even if it was enhanced but now the word “trollop” is to good for her.

feel free to regale us with your “Jordan conquest” story, I don’t recall you mentioning it in the past but it’s 38c here in Logroño and my brain starting to boil
(you have a brain i here you cry :rofl::rofl:).

I also found this film about the Canadians at Juno, as anyone seen it"

Somewher in here David:

You’ll have to scroll down a fair bit, but it was an interesting topic in any case, comparing shows that is. By the way, there was no conquest I assure you. Even I have standards-ish.

Had to do some image googling

Totally agree with your assessment

How in heavens name could anyone get the idea that disfiguring themselves like that is a clever plan?

Robin, your average British street is full to bursting with them. Tattooed, weird eyebrows, a permanent look of surprise due to Botox, a fake tan, eyelashes that wouldn’t look out of place on the mudguards of those big continental trucks, and worst of all, inflated lips (aka the “Trout pout”) - I agree with you: how the hell does one think that that is an attractive look before one leaves the house. An English rose? Don’t make me laugh.

FYI: Botox is not a filler, it is a potent poison.
The reason for injecting botox is to kill the nerves that causes permanently furrowed brows
(brows pulled in and down). Some suffer bad headaches due to this condition.
The eyebrows will relax back to their natural position which could be interpreted as lifted.
Botox is also used to relax other cramped surface muscles. Botox was also used to kill spies and
political opponents, mostly replaced by other methods such as windows (flying out of) and tea (laced with various products), “Some polonium on your sandwich Sir?”
Lots and lots of journalists and influencers believe that botox is a filler or a lifting method.

The “terminally surprised” look comes from other methods, still ugly as the dark lords bottom though

Brian and the overly entitled ones have cattle class nose ring and hideous tattoos that resemble an explosion in a paint factory.

Looked her up also. She’s a model?" She’s had a lot of bad cosmetic work done. Man she’s ugly. At first I thought for sure she was a he.
