Good kit in the main although cutting some of the parts off the spruces was a bit of a pain,AA steel tracks otherwise OOB!

Well, in a moment of rare foresight, (unusual for me) and being aware of Amusing Hobby’s Cent AVRE, just before they closed down I purchased Accurate Armour’s fascine cradle, with the obvious in mind. I also have a Giant Viper trailer (was it ever towed by the Cent - I have no idea). I never really wanted to branch out into Sapper kit, (the stash is just mad and that’s limited to MBTs, APCs, Recce, Arty and SSVs) apart from the odd Sov mine clearing plough/rollers, but the Cent AVRE is just so iconic, I might, might, have to give it ago.
Your model has really got me thinking!

Really fantastic job on the Cent! I think I have the old AA conversion kit in my stash and would love to tackle it but I have too many projects going right now. Very inspiring!

Giant viper was indeed towed by the Cents,the amusing hobby kit is one from the gulf war and didn’t have the cradle mounted if the front armour was on so I went for the AFV kit and found the VRN for a wagon from my old Sqn.

The Cent is really nice mate … But you should get a big pat on the back for the Comds DPM parka, that cam is painted perfect

The small parts are a evil witch that jumps off the table into the carpet monster or into the black hole . But I had a way of dealing with the AFV club small stuff. In a empty kit box cut some planters tape and cut the surrounding sprue . Now stick the part that need removal on the tape and use a micro razor saw. That gets it free but now getting it on the kit is another problem entirely.

I haven’t got the AH AVRE kit (yet) but a glance at the instructions sheet courtesy of Scalemates, leads mt to think that one wouldn’t have to fit the Gulf war stuff and one could end up with a decent Cold War variant if you like, incorporating my AA fascine cradle, which was an inspirational purchase perhaps, not being much of a scratch builder.
I’m thinking now of it towing a Giant Viper - dear God - so many models…
Just an afterthought: could it be configured thus: carrying a fascine, yet also towing Giant Viper. Would that be feasible?
Yep common practice on exercise,would not look out of place at all
Do NOT get the AFV fascine set it’s not worth the cash,a set of large drinking straws from any supermarket etc is the way to go at a fraction of the price! (75 straws equals a fascine bundle)

Why would you buy a kit, with errors like the wheels, or the open back of the hull or the softer details to convert it to an AVRE - AFV Club is offering and is way more better in details and more accurate. The Facine cradle from AFV is tricky but smarter to build than the AA Version… so why?
I build the AA armoured AVRE, and the AFV Club AVRE. Just for fun I had the AH AVRE and, wow, how bad it is compared to the AA… I sold it on the spot.

well done on your model of the AFV Club AVRE and from my old squadron i was 31 in the 70s
having built two AVREs for AFV Magazaine and completeing my book the Shortest Gap my next challenge now is the a MK12H 105mm AVRE but fitted with dozer blade and fascine cradle i have every thing to build the model just need motivation, i have pictures of it with dozer blade and mine plough .
well done a great build and alot of patience with those lights and cradle
