I’m researching AH-1Ws for a 1/35 MRC kit build and noticed it has the oval/flattened skid beam.
I’ve found a few pictures of these on then active aircraft but I’d like to know if they are associated to particular Bureau numbers or lots. My research, so far, hasn’t been able to answer this question. Can anyone help?

First welcome aboard.
It is my understanding that the skid fairing it not a buno or lot specific item. It is an individual airframe or squadron/det policy.
Wow. That certainly opens some different research avenues. It doesn’t really make a ton of sense but, it’s worth pursuing. Thank you!

Now I get it! They’re removable fiberglass fairings. Probably came on all acft., up to a point perhaps, and the maintainers took them off. Totally makes sense. Thanks.
