AH-6J | Kitty Hawk | 1:35 - “Barber 51”

Hi all. My second helo build was completed earlier in 2024. It’s Kitty Hawk’s AH-6J, specced to represent one of the four armed little birds from Operation Gothic Serpent (and the only one believed to have had the FLIR fitted). With a toddler at home this took nearly 6 months of on-and-off building, with lots of aftermarket and scratchbuilding going in.

Aside from the kit, we had Werners Wings’ downturned exhaust, AH-6 upgrade kit, FLIR, and decals. From Black Ops Models we had the rocket pods and M134 barrels. From Red Fox we have the 3D decals for the cockpit. Reedoak helmets and flight gear. Live Resin flight controls that added a lot more detail compared to the kit parts. Tonnes of decals and 3D parts from Anyz to detail the cockpit switches, avionics/weapons/FLIR wiring, etc. lots of scratchbuilding in the avionics and engine area that are hardly visible. 0.3mm Solder balls for the rivets.

Hello!
Lookin’ really good! Sometimes I feel tempted to try to build a large scale “little bird”, but those special ops choppers are a large chunk of knowledge by themselves and I lack the experience in this field…
Once I have built two Vietnam-Era Loaches in 1:72:

Thanks for sharing and have a nice day!

I like a lot the rendering of the exterior. You captured very well the faded black color.

Beautiful build I think I have my first Helo on the way. I hope I can come close to this level of quality.
