OK, it’s not my usual fare. I have to hold my hand up, I just couldn’t resist this kit any longer and when I walked into a model shop while on a break in Cumbria I snapped it up. I’ve always had a soft spot for this vehicle and, strangely, the Austin Champ (anyone do a kit of that? No, didn’t think so. I had the Dinky toy and the Britains one with the BAT gun to tow).
The kit goes together well and the instructions, please send a copy to Dragon saying “This is how it should be done…” I put the limited interior together and thought, “Hmm, I don’t remember there being this much room when last I sat in a Ferret”. I decided that I wanted it “opened up” and there wasn’t enough stuff inside to be convincing, so purchased the Scorpion Models interior and added it. Of course, I should have taken the photos before putting the front on, but got carried away in the moment, so this is the best I can do.
Nicely done interior. I have this kit as well and at some point will be getting the Scorpion Models update sets, just not sure which.
I believe Accurate Armour did an Austin Champ, not sure. Resin of course
Kit Form Services do a 1/24 version, showing as sold out and quite expensive.

Finally got around to taking some photos of the finished (?) item. Perhaps it needs a couple of antennae? The pictures were taken with my phone as usual, so aren’t brilliant. I have used a bit of artistic licence and put a bit of muck on it, even though it’s supposed to be a Berlin vehicle, but looking at my SUV outside, with the weather we’ve been having, I think even a vehicle used 100% on the road would look a bit mucky. No doubt the RSM would disagree! Main colour was Revell 65, apparently this is a match for Humbrol Bronze Green, Matt 75 which has been discontinued (why!?). I note the Airfix transfers lack the St Patrick’s cross in the Union Flag, but it is so small, I didn’t feel up to adding it!
