Any news on the late model Gecko M76 Otter?

Just curious as the early has been out for a while, and searches aren’t producing an answer. Was also wondering about the set of Nam USMC figures they’ve announced. Any good rumors or are we just blaming it on the tariff situation as to why nothing hitting our shores?

Thanks,

Rod

I’m currently building this kit. Since this is my first build in 20+ years, the intricacies of the PE parts is a little daunting (to be honest, I don’t think I ever had a kit that included PE parts prior to my hiatus).

I found there is a bit of an issue with the fit between the engine bay and the “hood,” where I had to shave off the positioning tabs, and whereby there is a gap between the left side of the body and the hood. From images others have posted online, this does not seem to be unique to my kit.

and beware of the tracks, I don’t know how many times I had to re-glue them.

There’s a special place in hell for this kind of ****…

Wow ! How thin is that PE ? Figure it would have to be very thin to get into those curves.

Now that’s the definition of “fiddly”.

And thats when I decide to lose the part and move on.

Be thankful there is a jig. Would be worse without one.

FYI, there is a typo in the instructions: in step 32, the exhaust pipe part number is Dc8, not De8 as indicated.

I would try making this part from a paper, paper is way easier shape than brass.

Gecko uses a lot of PE in their kits. Their ATMP is full of it… two sheets, for a kit that is just a few inches long… and no plastic options.

Compare the size of parts - the top left are jerry can inserts, the bottom left seat belts…

Then there is the tread plate:

All in all though, if you are patient it does come out worth the effort

it is a pain to get right, love the idea of paper

I’d replace it with tin foil and avoid the headache.

Annealing the gecko brass makes it very easy to bend on the former.
