Any suggestions for large areas of grass?

You could also try fake fur (faux fur). Comes in a variety of colors. It tends to be fairly soft (because it’s imitation fur) but you can use hair spray to stiffen it and make it stand up.

Don, I agree with Leo, I managed to get a large offcut of teddy bear fur for pennies, it’s going to last me many years.

The stuff I bought was a brownish colour and was quite long. The good thing is you can paint it any colour you want, I used cheap poster paints, and you can trim it to any lengths you want.

I’ve only used it once on a 1/72nd scale build, below is a picture of it uncoloured and untrimmed, followed by various stages including one of the finished article.

A little small for 1/35 (freshly cut shoulder grass) but great for 1/72.

About the size of sheet paper for the product.

I’ve been using fake fur for years. I pluck clumps of it, trim the bottom and push it into a dob of pva. Go the a material store and you will find lots of fake fur in lots of colours.
