Anyone bought from SCT?

I’m very interested in the products advertised by SCT. The brand is listed on Scalemates, the models are unique, and the prices competitive.

However, the brand’s website is hosted on VK, a Russian social media, and reading about it triggered some concerns.

Has anybody dealt with this brand and the staff over there? Does it have to happen through the VK platform?

thanks in advance.

I have no experience with SCT, but it appears to be another of the many Russian brands that have cropped up in recent years with 3D printing. The brands I have purchased (Lev Resin, KEP, Denisss, Red Iron, and others) have all been very good and no different then what we find elsewhere. VK is good for following all these companies - no different then Facebook for western users - but you cannot purchase off of VK, since of course there is no way to pay the companies given the restrictions to Paypal and the like. It looks like Unomag.ru carries SCT; I’ve bought from them (as well as i-modelist.com) a number of times and there are no issues. They use proxies in non-sanctioned countries for Paypal payments. If you are from Canada, be prepared though to be hit with a 30% tariff from Canada Customs on most shipments coming from Russia.

Thanks a lot, Jon, for this useful answer! I’ll give a look to the links provided. I’m glad to read there might be options.

I also sent an email to the company through their homepage and will see what they say.

Yeah, tariffs suck, but I’m ready to pay them for such original products.

I’ve emailed a couple companies directly, but have never gotten responses.

And if you see something you want on either of those websites from all these small 3D producers, I would recommend you buy it now. The supply to these shops is very intermittent and they can never tell you when they might get re-stock on something. I waited too long on a couple of Lev Resin items from Unomag and it took over a year for them to finally get some more (and then I ordered immediately and its on the way now!). The nice thing about Unomag is it takes them a few days to a few weeks to assemble your order since they bring stuff in from different warehouses, and while this is happening you can still add to the order as they get other new items in. They are quite efficient at notifying you at each step and other then the slightly convoluted method to pay them via Paypal, it works well. Shipping can be a bit unusual as well as sometimes they use a courier that is not trackable until it gets to another country and switches to a trackable postal service, but I have never had an issue. Just have to be patient. My latest order is via Russian Post and it is trackable; they have flat rate shipping and although it seems like its surface mail given the relatively inexpensive cost, my orders have always come at least partially via airmail and arrived within 3-4 weeks.
