ANZAC Day

Sending best wishes to all of us commemorating ANZAC Day this year.

We all do so in our own way. Thinking of all who have a particular memory or mate they’ll always keep in mind but that comes to the surface today.

Also remember to try to seek out old mates and make sure the yarns get bigger and better as the day goes on!

Lest we forget.

ANZAC cut its teeth at Gallipoli as Canada did at Vimy on 9 Apr 1917. We Commonwealths became our own nations on these days.

I was humbly honoured to have been invited to participate in ANZAC Day while in Afghanistan.

I will raise a glass to Waltzing Matilda (tomorrow).

Three cheers for the Diggers! Everybody thinks to watch “Gallipoli” to commemorate the day. Better yet (IMHO) The Water Diviner - Wikipedia … or make it a double feature.

Thanks for posting the pics Torsten. It is always so humbling visiting these memorials. I’ve been to Vimy three times and have always been in solemn awe.

I think it should be every countrymen’s duty to try and visit their national memorials in foreign countries.

Thanks Steve! I’ve been twice to Vimy Ridge (2012 and 2022) and as I wrote here, it’s a place which keeps you silent. It sure wasn’t my last trip to that region as I missed out all the US memorials and cemeteries.

Peter, thanks for posting the photos from Gallipoli and the cemetery! :+1:
