I’ve just noticed over on the Track-Link site that Hobby Boss are set to produce the Archer SP Gun system in 1:35:
I was hoping it would get kitted in plastic- great news!
It’ll be a beast size-wise that’s for sure; the Track-Link site indicates release in March.
Not my cup of tea but it should please most I would have thought.
I’m having one of these for sure. Can already say that resin wheels will be the way to go on this.
I never quite mind re plastic/vinyl-type tyres; I compute that they’ll disintegrate only when I’m long gone(!)
I know the Royal Artillery have a few of these just up the road from where I live; a mate of mine who works there says they’re always getting bogged in somewhere on Salisbury Plain. I suppose somewhere along the line there’s a debate to be had re the advantages over tracks versus wheel, though presumably the abysmal Brit MOD have already had that(!)
Those vehicles are really ugly. Definitely want one. It kinda looks like someone stuck a King Tiger turret on the back of a Faun L900. Maybe that was the Early version.
The Archer is definitely a mean looking vehicle. I want one. Not overly thrilled about Hobby Loss producing it, however.
The military cousin of one of these:
When they get bogged down most tracked artillery would also get bogged down.
Bv-206 and derivatives will “always” get through, walking in their tracks in deep snow means sinking in to the knees
We use that type of chassis to haul logs for forestry. I have walked in the trails created by them where my boots sank up to the knee in the center ridge and the ridge was shaped by the underside of the chassis and the differential housings.
Have driven and worked around these and they actually get around pretty good. TV show Gold Rush shows a lot of them in use. Wayne
I read or watched something on youtube the the Archer is interm and that the royal artillery is going with a artillery piece based on the Boxer
I’m sure you’re right; I won’t hold my breath though given the abysmal British procurement record.
This is the Swedish version only. UK gun is different. Anyway, on my to-buy-list.

I take one
Isnt there another NATO operating it as well ?
Sweden,
we joined March 7th last year.
It was developed as a joint project with Norway but then they pulled out when there was a delay.
I believe Canada is showing interest in them. We could use them and a lot more new gear!
