Possibly the 197th Bde out of Benning. The were used to replace the NG “round out” brigade of the 24th. The 197th’s gear was deployed in standard NATO camo.

I still remember the smell from all of those vehicles on the highway out of town. I don’t know who was tasked with cleanup but that was going to be a job.

Yeah. That’s it. The 197th Bde. Thanks. :kissing_smiling_eyes::+1:

The vehicles were drug off and put into huge junkyard/graveyards in Kuwait just south of Ali Al Salem Airbase. They were still there in '09 when I last came back through.

I wonder the value of it all as scrap?

A weathering and battle damage bonanza ( or nightmare lol! ) for modelers looking at those pics. One could really go to town on a kit.

Wondering what is the story behind this pic. Was this a modern Iraqi tactic to blend in with the surrounding or did the dude behind the wheels fell a sleep?

By the scrape marks leading up to the tracks, I would assume a bulldozer pushed the tank to that point
