I don’t think they’re being repainted to the three tone camouflage. Our M777A2s remain CARC green.

may not straight away, like the M1A1s we got they stayed the sand colour until they didn’t.

People forget that the plan with the M1A1 was to use three-colour barracuda camouflage in lieu of repainting until it failed the trial. Only at that point was the decision taken to repaint the M1A1 from CARC sand to three-colour.
Never say never, but my money is on staying green, just like the M777A2, CH-47D, CH-47F, & UH-60M.
That said, there have been trade show models FWIW

I don’t think you can draw any conclusion about the painting of AFVs from the schemes used for aircraft.
