Bad News - M151A1 Gun Truck

In order to avoid stepping on John Tapsell’s thread, I decided to start a post on Bad News.
In his thread the idea came up that it might have been re-engined. Why else would you relocate the radiator?

I opined that a likely candidate would be the Ford 302 V-8, available at that time on T-85 aircraft tugs:

I’ve found a good stabd in, from a Monogram Snap-Tite Nascar kit:

It may not be a 302, but it’s a V-8, and can fill the void in the engine bay nicely. In real life, it would require some modification, what what cool project doesn’t?

ICM/Revell made a flat head Ford V8 in their Ford V300S kit.

This works. There’s little visible, but enough the you’ll see those Ford Blue valve covers from the front.
It fits, and the hood comes all the way down even with the air cleaner.
The sun even shines on a dog’s ass some days.

By the way, if you’re following this and have the bullet style headlights to trade, I’ll trade in your favor for them. This whole time I’ve thought I had a Palmer kit that had them. I may still, but this was the only I found in my rummaging, which doesn’t have them

Looks like M37/M43 ones…

Yes, I can see that. I’m hoping not to purchase a whole kit (again) for a couple of parts. Hence my query. I don’t really care what they come from as long as they look the part.

An option I you have access to a printer.

Thanks. I do, but those appear to be somewhat faceted. I’ll wait and see what turns up.

I get that. A little sanding can fix that issue.

I know. I’ve grown lazy in my old age. I’d have to use clear epoxy for the lenses as well. But it still may come to that.

You could use a punch on clear plastic and polish out instead of epoxy.

Other options don’t have the longer bullet shape. Could possibly modify the cad before printing to smooth out the shape.

It was only a matter of time. Although I do want to thank you for looking.
I have a scary stache. Or is it stash? Both I think. I found exactly what I need in the old Revell Katyusha, which I have more than one of. Complete with clear lenses too:
