Battle of Moscow (1941) Calvary

I am in the process of gathering some supplies for a small Battle of Moscow diorama. I was curious if this figure would work.

I know it’s a pre-1943 uniform so should be good there. I am unsure of the budenovka hat, and the pants. I am a novice when it comes to Russian uniforms

He is good for warm weather periods, but when the Germans finally made it to Moscow in late 1941 the temperatures were well below freezing. I imagine that the Soviet cavalry units were outfitted in their winter uniforms by then.

I was thinking of the setting being early in the battle when the Germans first turned their attention on Moscow. Around September 1941. The scene I am thinking up would even be appropriate for just before the battle commenced, so I think he would work?

Thanks for the reply

That’s a beautiful figure. Looks like one of Douglas Lee’s figures.
