Following your progress.
I look forward to following your progress. Nice start.
I cut the road and bar ditches and added rubble to the inside of the chapel. Wire tree in winter was also added.
Hi @KGvonJaxx
for the Ardennes in winter ’44, most pines are in the 15–20 m range, which in 1/35 works out to roughly 43–57 cm, but going strictly to scale usually ends up looking oversized in a diorama.
What tends to work better is to vary things for depth, something like 35–50 cm in the back, 25–40 cm in the mid-ground, and 15–25 cm up front, mixing heights and keeping some of the lower trunks cleaner to get that dense forest feel.
Since it’s Bulge, it also helps to push a winter look a bit — slightly heavier tops, less overall foliage, and a few more irregular or “tired” looking trees.
Ricardo, that’s the sort of support and advice that really helps bring out the best results!
Thanks Ricardo, great information. I don’t really have the room so I think I will put another deciduous (without leaves) and call it good. I see a lot of them on photos of the area.
I think the scale looks good. but you need a lot of snow on the branches…
Snow comes later
