227 Sqn (RAF) became 16 Sqn (SAAF), allegedly equipped with Beaufighter TF-X. (as far as I know they did not use torps. Would they had the XIC … save the TF-X for those who needed torpedo ability?) Researching this I noticed something. What is the story with the air intakes? I was lead to believe the larger ones were for the earlier Mks., smaller ones for the TF-X and up. But I see TF-Xs with large intakes, IF with small ones . Then I was think trop filters. But photos dont back that idea either.
