Here is my finished build. The Dragon 1/72 Maus. Really nice and well detailed kit. The only issue were the DS tracks, but in the end it worked out.
I forgot to install the engine grilles before closing up the hull. That was my mistake. I will remember last time.

In an effort to get this as a somewhat completed albeit diluted standalone, I’ve had a bit of a resurgence today, energy levels permitting, and have started painting the details on the Dutch Kpz 70 (NL) or GvT 70 as it might well have been; first, a stab at the cam nets, which as usual, soak up an awful lot of paint as well as dislodging lots of the tea leaves; I’ll try and continue tomorrow, again, commensurate with energy levels.

Hah! I didn’t notice it to be honest; my body is so wrecked from everything else that’s been thrown at it, a sunny day was a doddle.

Heatwave? From what I read, you guys are having a n average Brisbane temp… but without our high humidity.

These things are relative, of course. The kind of temperatures your average Australian doesn’t think twice about is a heatwave in Western Europe; the kind of temperatures your average Western European doesn’t think twice about is a heatwave in Scotland; the kind of temperatures your average Iraqi doesn’t think twice about is a heatwave in eastern Australia; etc.

I’m not going to get over the line in time, nowhere near .Maybe ‘Unfinished Bizz’ ..Too many distractions this time of year and other excuses
The kit has gone together pretty well, but I decided to cut open the doors in order to scratch a ‘what if’ interior, this always happens with my builds - self sabotage.I found a good tool for scribing through the door lines.Some sort of canvas sewing awl (?)

Well, not finished by any means, but most of the detail painting is done; headlights not yet fitted and antennae just lodged for the pics - not yet painted either. No wash or dry-brushing yet so that’s on hold. Once my oils arrive for the wash I’ll get cracking, but this Dutch rendition of the Kpz-70 will be incorporated into a larger diorama, though at times I’m tempted to display as a singleton - it does seem to have that squat, menacing look that the MBT-70 series has, in my opinion of course(!)

And that’s about it until I move it all to a new thread , probably titled “The Dutch MBT-70/Kpz-70” or similar; markings added, rather unimaginatively, from the old Esci Leo 2 kit, but they do begin to bring it to life perhaps. It is destined to be displayed on a more involved base and setting. Still a lot to do!

Well, there is a bit to do Tom: headlights to be added, antennae, a wash of a burnt umber and black mix, dry-brushing, then a blast of Tamiya Buff which will also be used to blend the whole into a base, once devised. Then there’s figures, around at least half a dozen, plus 2 x extra vehicles, or that’s what I’m thinking of at the moment.
