Best tank that never was

Thank you Peter and Tom. I appreciate the advice and everything. Looking forward to working with them and seeing how it goes. Should prove to be interesting.

That, and the US was pretty much handing out M1s in the Middle East like New Orleans hands out beads at Mardi Gras. Osorio never stood a chance.

I read an article in some defence related magazine many years ago (early 90´ies???)
where the author speculated that “handing out” US tanks to middle east countries was
a way of prepositioning tanks that could be crewed by US tankers flown in if there was
an emergency. Having troops ‘in country’ was politically sensitive (religious reasons)
and having the tanks on ships off the coast was costly and inefficient.

Alright, heres my contribution. I was lucky enough to buy the Vargas 1/35 Bob Semple from their first batch. And I must say its amazing!!!
The detail and the print quality were outstanding. I had it built in a few hours.

I painted it with Ammo and Vallago acrylics.

Ned Kelly on tracks - I love it! But is it a solid lump of resin? That must be so heavy…

(Over two weeks of silence here - I must get cracking on my own entry.)

Ezra, very unique build. Never heard about this kit or tank before.

Looking forward to see more

Spanish Civil War?

Nope - a home-grown antipodean tank. (Although “tank” may be stretching the definition a bit…)

(Edited to remove the Australian reference, as it’s a New Zealand product.)

There. fixed that for you.

Sorry - my bad! (They’re both a long way away from here, so I have the “foreigner” excuse… :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Better than most Americans (Except Lord of the Rings fans) . At least you know there is a New Zealand. (Go All Blacks!) My second thought on it was Syrian Kurdish. Looks like something of theirs.

I finally made a start on plastic for my DIVAD/GE candidate last night at the club. I forgot how many holes Tamiya needed for motorisation… :weary:

Reminds me of something…

Same response I think…

Well I’ve been busy with a little CAD work to sort out all the turret shapes. Not to 3D-print, but to create a set of cutting templates for old-school plastic slabs!

…and I knocked up the Tamiya hull as far as it can go:

Anybody else making headway?

Nice start Tom. I’m more old school than that - I draw up my scratch building templates.

Damn hard cutting them out of the old slate tablet though… :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I currently have five builds in various stages of paint, and two still in construction… and one more to do for a build finishing in September. I’ll be a very late starter on this.

Only five on the go? I can’t recall the last time I had so few in progress…

Yes, but I am working on all 7… I did not count the shelf queens
Kanonjagdpanzer for the TD 2 build
Universal Carrier MMG Canadian Group build
AT-AT for the Alternate Camo Sci-fi Group build
Rooikat for the Trumpeter Group build
E10 for the Sci-Fi VII Group build

and in the build stages
ASLAV-R for the 8 wheeler Group build
LVT 4 for the Africa Group Build (to be honest, only 1.5 set of tracks done for that. Those AFV Club workable tracks are a bear…)

Seems to be common denominator here, but I can’t quite put my finger on it.

Nearly 2 months of constant rain and humidity put my paint schedule way behind.

Thanks for reminding me lol

Does the American T29 appear on the list? Then I’m in.

It never got beyond prototype, so it’s in! (And I have a soft spot for those big lumbering beasts…)
