Bob Smith industries Insta-Flex+

I am considering using this for my 1:32 stuka canopy. has to be a strong adhesive since the canopy section with the antenna mast wire is load bearing . I like the imencely strong bond that Bob Smith industries IC-2000 provides but its dries to a black color the Insta- flex dries clear. Any experience with this CA?

Even if the CA is low odour, protect the transparencies with a coat of good gloss Acrylic clearcoat.
Gauzy is one & Deluxe Materials also do one

It will dry black but it seems to take longer than clear to set unless you there insta-set product.

Acrylic glues like Gator’s Grip or Ultraglue are much easier and safer to use, in my opinion.

Either CA glue is going to fog the clear part unless you follow the guy’s advice and dip the clear part in Future first. Personally I would use Mig Ultra Glue. It will hold the antenna load.

Yeah, forgot CA could be a bad choice, I have this PVA speed bond and will buy some acrylic glue. not familiar with acrylic. thanks.

I believe it’s the fumes from CA that fogs clear parts. I accidently fogged the interior of a canopy, once, because the canopy was in the closed position, and the cockpit was therefore closed up. The fumes had nowhere to go and accumulated inside and fogged the canopy. On the other hand, I glued the antenna mast of an Me-109 with CA to the top of the rear section of canopy. Since it was on the exterior with lots of ventilation, there was no fogging. Maybe I just got lucky?
On another Me-109 I glued the canopy in the open position. I didn’t want to spend time holding the canopy in place until the glue set so I VERY carefully applied CA to the edge of the fuselage and placed the canopy in position. It bonded almost immediately, and without fogging due to sufficient ventilation.

Micro Scale “Krystal Klear” is also for gluing canopies. Probably similar to “Speed Bond” above. Takes longer to set than CA, or styrene glue, but dries very strong without fogging, or crazing clear parts. As it’s name implies, it dries crystal clear, and if you apply it smoothly, when dry, it’s invisible.
Krystal Klear is also for making window panes (not too large), but will only make flat panes as it will not form a curve.

thanks for the reply, Speed bond seems to be behaving like the Krystal clear. dried for 24 hours and seems to be a strong bond.Much knowledge gained here on Kitmaker especially about adhesives.
