As already mentioned, there were two different versions of the AT-T-based mine excavator. The BTM is the first version that was available in the mid-1960s. At first glance, it is difficult to tell them apart. The bucket wheel was lowered using the same technology as the BTM-3, i.e. using two chains that run over the frame. The main difference is the attachment of the bucket wheel and the number and design of the scraper buckets. The scraper buckets were closed at the bottom and there were no chains; they were not necessary due to the ground. The cable winch on the left side of the vehicle was used to move the frame to which the bucket wheel was attached. In order to be able to represent the model realistically, everything had to be built to be movable. This was not an easy task. The road wheels had to be used from the T-34 or T-44M. They are spoked wheels. The tracks are the same, i.e. from the T-44M tank. Incidentally, these tracks were also available with rubber pads. They were probably used in modernized P-40 radar vehicles. So much for the introduction to the model. Now the pictures of the original and the model.

Today the finished model of the BTM pit excavator. I’m showing it in the transport and working position. To make this possible, the cable winch had to be built to be movable. So I’ve shown all the variants on AT-T here.
