Looks beautiful! What a fantastic build!
The rear is sitting very low in the water in some pictures, but guess the screw is pulling it down a bit?

I don’t think so, she doesn’t have much buoyancy aft, she did end up with a few cc of water in but nothing to be too concerned about. Freeboard aft is only about 14mm as designed
A beautiful build that actually sails. Awesome ![]()

I have started my old matchbox build. The plastic is very brittle - especially the dark green. Easy and nostalgic build so far.

I would like to throw my Hornet into the build. This is the Testors 1/48 kit.
I was planning to do a two seat aggressor but once I got into the kit I found that it was based on the preproduction aircraft so I decided to go with that. Started the build on Feb. 8 and yesterday I started applying decals.
Not a good kit at all. About the only advantage this kit has over Monogram/Revell is its engraved panel lines.
The decals I got on eBay and are from the Monogram kit so not an exacting fit. It is interesting to see the differences between the decal sheet and the photo references I’m using as a guide. This is preproduction aircraft No.1 and though the decal sheet has several “1’s” on it, none of the photos I’ve seen has a 1 on it anywhere. I feel confident that this will be finished before the deadline.
I have finished my Hornet. Again, this is the 1/48 Testors kit and it was a huge disappointment. Poor details, poor engineering, poor fit of a lot of the parts. All the landing gear doors are butt joined, no tabs nor mounting points. I did learn some things building this but I felt like I was wasting my time during the process. Just glad to be able to walk away from it. So here it is, built as the No.1 preproduction airframe. Don’t look too closely…there are errors galore!
I am going to try but I may not make it with my VW Beetle. I got bogged down with end-of-year testing and wrapping up the school year then finishing two other campaign entries. Now we’ve been having rain in my locale almost daily the past few weeks and my AB setup adjoins the garage so humidity is high. I’ve only just managed to get primer on the exterior parts so I can start sanding away mold lines but paint time is going to be random AF. That’s really all that’s holding me up as the chassis and interiors are done.
