Building a 1/16th M3A1 Half Track Late with SOL Chained Wheels and Track

Well to continue on,

Since I am going to be using the Gun Ring mount I opened the Hole in the Deck, the Instructions have the holes mixed up. The Center hole is for the Pedestal mount and the one to the side is for the Ring Mount.

Now to sand down that darn Ring mount.

Progressing well Donald.

Yes the ring mount is a pain in the rear and could have been better thought out I agree. A bit of head scratching assembling the various parts at this stage too. I managed to get part E13 on upside down but realised before the cement set. Fitting the ring itself is a pain too as the slots for the mountings only fit one way

And the distances in between them vary , Well here is how I did it, I hope this helps someone.

Now to putty up and sand where the tabs came through the slots then to fit the Gun mount.

Well Yesterday I showed how I did the Gun Ring, and today it’s the Gun Mount that goes on the ring. I hope this helps someone.

Finished for now.

Great build.
In regards to that ring, if you have a small, stubby curved exacto blade, it may help remove some of that filler on the inside of that ring. Just gently scrape along, pretty much using it as a sanding stick of sorts

Today I have the Mgs. assembled.

Finished for now
I hope all of this is helping someone and I am not just wasting my time and resourses

@ Donald (oldwarloke)
Those MGs look great — interesting mini-kits on their own. Thank you for posting. Keep up the great work!

Nope, you are not wasting your time, follow all your builds with great interest. Spent the first 3 months of this year in hospital and came to this site and all your old builds everyday to cheer me up. Well nearly every day the 8 days in the coma I missed lol.

Thanks Guys, It’s lonely until I hear from you.
It’s just that I am old now and my hands do not work quite as fast as they use to

Always interested and following Donald, keep the builds coming.

For the MG ring, my attempts to putty the seam between the upper and lower rings was unsatisfactory. I ended up covering the entirety with 0.005" styrene strip. Under a coat of paint, I’m glad I went this route.
