Nice builds.
Right from my “color shower”. SPW-50 and SPW-40P. Tamiya NATO Green is a good substitute for TGL 2425 Olivgrün.
Very nice work Hermann; you can never have too much NVA (which is not something I would have said during the Cold War!)
Wise spoken Brian. Now come the Fleissarbeit.. Building Trmpeter indy tracks with two guidehorns per shoe.
Also thinking about getting PT-76 kits. One of my shops has them discounted.
Looking good
A provisional setup. Truppenaufklärer getting new orders. I build an universal base on the bottom of a Trumpeter showcase. The VC is from Germania Figuren and the obligatory pointing German Officer is from Valkyrie Model.
P.S. I need to find an easy way to paint Einstrich-Keinstrich camo.
All good stuff Hermann!
As for the uniform camouflage; all you can do I feel is go for an effect. In scale, one wouldn’t see the “raindrops” at all I feel, so you could just paint a sort of earth-brown/grey mix and have done with it.
If, however, you wish to attempt something then my method is like this:
First, obviously a base colour. I normally mix a brown/grey colour. Then, you will need to obtain one of these:
and using the pen apply very short lengths of colour to represent the raindrops; obviously overscale but I feel it adds something appropriate:
You may disagree of course!!
Hi Brian, a pencil is a good idea, i would never come to that. NVA had two type of base colors,
one Dark Tan and one light Olive Green. So plenty of options.
More brownish
More olive
You did good job at small figure. How did you added small pavel in tiny AK buttstock?
If you mean the textured effect on the weapon, that is all down to the designers/sculptors; the figure is one from the Valkyrie set
I still have not completed my plans for this set(!)
Hi Brian,
I made a test with a pencil and it worked like a charm. Thank you.
A good article about NVA Camouflage uniforms.https://www.camopedia.org/index.php/East_Germany
I decided to build my SA-9 Gaskin on Trumpeter base, using only a few components of the original DML kit.
DML kit on the right.
