Merry Christmas to you, Tim!
And congratulations to your absolutely stunning work, just beautiful, she looks awesome on display with the patch next to her.
I apologize that I havenāt replied earlier, I was just briefly looking in over the last days and have to catch up here on MSW during the next daysā¦
Thanks for sharing this - again - wonderful work of yours, one more of those little Pyro kits you built into a masterpiece!
All the best to you and your family, and looking forward to more of your builds in 2021!
Cheers
Jan
Thanks guys, I have appreciated your kind comments and support throughout this build!
Tim, glad your dad liked it. It was enjoyable to watch you build it.
Now Iāve snagged a Academy Clipper ship Cutty Sark. You made it look so easy, Iām sure it wonātbe hard to build.

Cool Mark, I hope you post your build as it progresses! Is it the 1/350 or 1/150 version? The smaller one is a re-box of the 1960s Pyro model, but I understand they are both decent kits.
Either way, good luck with it!
Itās the 1/350. The yardarms are molded to the sails and the ratlines are too thick for any sailor to grab. Oh and thereās a complete lack of painting instructions. I may be back to this thread a bunch.

Yep, sounds like Pyro!
That kit was quite the ādogā OOB, but you turned it into a beautiful display model!
Really an impressive model, from a really old kit.
Thanks guys. These older kits werenāt perfect, but I find myself drawn to them again and again. God knows I appreciate more recent highly detailed, perfect-fitting model kits, but thereās something about the flawed older ones that appeals to me. They invite and challenge you to engage with them.
The parts always seem to look great in the box, but the fit is sometimes wonky, and they often sport simplified, exaggerated, or just plain inaccurate detail. You can still get a good result, but you have to apply just a little more effort and creativity to get there ā and that, for me at least, is a big part of the fun of model building!
