I’m not sure how much news filters across the Kitmaker Network since the switch to the new format, so you may or may not have seen the sad news that long-time Kitmaker member and contributor Steffen Arndt died recently:
As anyone who knew Steffen will realise, he was a dedicated 1:48 scale modeller - The One True Scale as he loved to call it(!) - specialising on aircraft and armour.
Anyway, we’re getting a group build together in Steffen’s honour. It will encompass all types of models, to encourage as many people to join in as possible from all modelling genres - and, you’ve guessed it - the one qualifying factor will be that you submit a build in 1:48 (or as close as possible for some of the genres where it might be hard to find a suitable kit).
We’re aiming to get the ball rolling at the start of February, with a finished date at the end of 2021, so there’s plenty of time to find something to build, even if 1:48 isn’t your normal scale. So, keep your eyes peeled for more details if you’d like to join in.
Above all, I really want this to be fun, despite the sad reason for the build. Steffen loved modelling, so let’s make this a real celebration of the hobby he gave so much to, both on Kitmaker and, especially, at IPMS Deutschland.
