Hi Top. A USA combat photographer was on hand for this battle and you can catch it on film on youtube. This might be the same Panther that smoked a Sherman crew minutes before so they brought up the Pershing. One crew, poor Sgt bailed but his leg below knee was blown off and he bled out before he could get first aid

Yup - same encounter and same Panther. There’s a whole website about it out there somewhere…
You’ll notice the muzzle brake is gone in some of the photos.
It’s sitting in someone’s collection in the basement!

That Panther did knock out a Sherman earlier, one of the crew was badly wounded and later died. One of the people on scene who tried to get that injured crewman to the medics was Andy Rooney (the curmudgeon that used to be on “60 Minutes”)…he was a reporter at the time.
