CVR(W) Fox Antenna Length

Does anyone know the actual length of the antennas on the British CVR(W) Fox?

Same as any other Clansman set up on a UK vehicle with that radio type, just over 2m for a full 2 section length or you could do a battle antenna with just the bottom section of about a metre.

Thanks … an obvious answer, but I was just checking. If the vehicle were on exercise, would the antennas be full-height or half?

To be honest we usually kept ours full length…

  1. they were usually locked together with corrosion
  2. Its really not worth the effort splitting them …
  3. and its a bit of a fallacy that people say “oh you can see where a vehicle is hidden with its antennas sticking up” etc etc … maybe - if you are 6ft away … however, if you can see a vehicle antenna from 1km away when a wagon is hull down then wow … thats some eyesight !!
