I read in the instructions for the Tamiya kit that the DAK commandeered Citroen Traction Avant cars in Tunisia. It would be a neat thing to build but I haven’t found any pictoral examples.

If there is no pictorial evidence, then you’re free to do what you think appropriate, or probable. A desert camo job, and German crosses on the sides. As for license plates, I don’t know how Wehrmacht numbered captured, or “found” vehicles, apart from WH……
