Calling this one done - a fun project but tiny photo etch tries my patience and eyesight.

Ist time seascape and 1/350 figures.

Congratulations on a fine commissioning, Richard :clinking_beer_mugs:

Really like what you’ve done here, very nice. Great job batting through the tiny photo etched elements.

Thanks for sharing: looking forward to the next one :cowboy_hat_face:

She looks great. Awesome diorama. I recently got the USS Benson kit so this is a nice bit of inspiration

Thanks Rory - It really is a nice kit . Great fit and details.

Very well done. The fit and finish are superb. I really like the crew as an added set of details.

A truly beautiful model. I'm also planning to build this one. I have a question.
Specifically, about the railings on the superstructures. I've looked at many
photos of completed models, and the railings are different on almost every
model. I'm specifically referring to the railing on the superstructure near
turret B; some add these railings, others don't. Similarly, with the railings
next to the torpedo tube. Was there a railing there or not? Some claim there was a folding railing for torpedo launching. I've searched for documentation and
photos, but I haven't been able to find anything. Did you get the railings from
some documentation, or is it just a guess? I'd appreciate any advice.

Thanks for the kind words - truly a great kit out of the box . I used a mix of the kit’s included PE ,

Dragon’s Buchanon aftermarket PE and the Gold Medal PE set which seems to be out of production - I believe Squadron bought them out but maybe available through them at some point ?

If you are looking for info on Buchanon specifically here is a photo of her in May 1942 that should answer your questions re: railings . Photo credits Classic Warship Productions Warship Pictorial 31.

I highly recommend this book if you can get it . Other Gleaves class DDs may be different as well as Buchanon in different years. Hope this helps and LMK if you need more info .

Cheers RT

Thanks. This photo shows that there were indeed no railings in those two places.
I have the Gold Medal kit, but the assembly instructions don't clearly show the
 railings on the superstructure decks.REgards
