Epic Fail by Amazon

I went out of the garage to put some air in my wife’s car tires. I noticed something lying on the stone wall in front of my house. When I went to see, I found this:

Sold by Amazon partner Kuudy Products, shipped by Amazon. Left in this condition by the street in front of my house. Good thing I was the one who picked it up. No packing, no shipping box, box top burst open, contents open to the environment. Just a shipping label slapped on the kit box. Packing tape on two ends. I’m so beyond pissed that I could write a diatribe here but I’ll spare everybody. I could spout like R. Lee Ermey right now. Let’s just say I’m more than disappointed in both parties and I’ve politely let them both know that, with photos. Thankfully, everything was in the box, and intact!

A splendid example of why every town needs a proper hobby shop to avoid such happenings.

Glad to hear that at least the contents survived…

And quite rightly peeved… That’s very shoddy to say the least. It’s a wonder in this day and age that people and big firms let this get past them. At least the kit parts weren’t damaged. :+1:

You are a better man than I by politely informing -
My message to them would have likely led to my arrest.

Amazon are terrible at packing boxes, and I believe it is due to the automation; robots can’t yet determine if a package needs extra packing to secure the contents. My wife uses Amazon a lot and most of the boxes shake like maracas because they put only a couple of those air-filled packing bags inside. No bracing or securing fragile items.

I was a shipping clerk for several years and know how it should be done, especially as I shipped a LOT of glass items.

That’s horrendous, just lucky you saw it. I would want nothing short of a full refund as well as the apology.

I’ve found parcels in the bin but luckily nothing damaged or stolen.

It makes my blood boil, especially the care I have taken with packaging in the past. My first proper job was working in my LHS. We used to ship all over Europe and the US, mostly slot cars, and I would take a lot of care with packaging. Occasionally we had a parcel go missing, but never a report of anything damaged on arrival.

I hope that you can get a resolution to this and it stops it happening again to someone else.

I hope you were polite Matt. The automated Amazon complaints department robot:

A couple of years old… but explains a lot…

I had a boss that used to tell me, “The customer is always right; except that he really isn’t.”

I hope you demanded a full refund from the fools responsible. Amazon is getting worse by the minute. Being a Prime member no longer means a thing. NOTHING ships in the formerly-promised two days. Everything — according to them — is the fault of COVID. Their packaging which used to be excellent is abysmal now. I guess all their former “fulfillment” people are home collecting unemployment 2.0. Amazon of the COVID era sucks!

Jeff doesn’t think so, as he simply added to his billions and took a ride into space while at it.

@SSGToms Matt, Agreed terrible way to ship a model kit.

Another Amazon shipping…snafu. It was the first time I’ve received one that way back in June.

If it had been a Federation ship, I’m sure it would have gotten lost in the delta quadrant traveling that way.

Lol

Uncool to get the box-art gummed up by an address sticker.
Can the sticker be peeled off without destroying the box-art?

Mine had a layer of shrink wrap on it so box art wasn’t defaced.

No, it’s on there to stay.

What?!!! Ruining the box art?!!! That’s my sole purpose for purchasing kits! After that, they go into the stash. … I have gotten better though…

I haven’t had a similar roughhouse package treatment from Amazon. However, my local USPS… don’t get me started. :zipper_mouth_face:

Well worthy of a slam in ratings for Kuudy. This is inexcusable and I would demand a new one. If you have to send back the kit, send it just as they sent it to you.
