New project emerges. I have been threatening to build some German paras for a while since I just finished some GI paras.
This will be a small group trying to escape being cut off from the Americans capturing the peninsula and Cherbourg harbor. Some of Col Van Der Heydts’ men.
I modified a fig from a Dragon set. by changing his pose and adding a Hornet head and right hand. GENII rifle ( slightly bent in this pic) and RoyalModel boots because I didn’t want the bespoke para ones because they were getting rare by this time.
I took a “let’s check” pic to take a hard look at the face. I see the eyes are not ready for prime time. These pics help me spot areas that need work.
@ John-hey thanks man and thanks for picking out the details. @BWILT-thanks buddy for that audio image. @Dale-thanks buddy. Welcome aboard and hung on. @Gemerim-Yessir that would be the one.
It is molded with a first pattern jump smock but I need a third pattern smock. So I began by removing everything I did not need. Now I can begin replacing that with stuff I DO need.
I still have no idea what voodoo you use to paint eyes at 1:35 scale, on my figures I can’t even see eyes…hah see what I did there? See what I did there? Any chance of a masterclass? With that guy you’re not far off – if it was me I’d try a delicate brownish wash to settle around the lids & if lucky suggest eyelashes top & bottom too. But I’m nowhere on this subject.
Hey thanks buddy. If you enlarge the latest pic you can see the fix I did which was adding some dark gray to the lash area on the left eye and a tiny dab of grey/white to the other eye.

Slapped some color on this guy. My very first attempt at sculpting a para smock. I am fairly pleased with this bone sack. The bayonet…not so much. It needs a remake I think. And I also see that the P38 barrel managed to get slightly bent. Easy fix though.
Next guy almost done. The helmet is from the Cassino set by Dragon and just rocks! Best I’ve seen. I had to add the cloth holster for the flare pistol and a loop for the entrenching tool handle as well.
