European barn diorama

Starting a barn diorama which will include a well, tractor, cart, and numerous farm tools. The barn is a plaster kit and will be a complete structure. I will make a loft inside. Most likely I will have a few German soldiers resting in the area but that might change. I have already run into a problem with the kit. The back wall is a half inch shorter than the three other walls. Already made an inquiry to the company.

So the correct wall is on its way…started laying out landscape. There will be a narrow road. I will have a rail style fence along the barn side of the road. There will be a small patio cover along the wall without a window.

Building loft and adding wall posts

Another great idea … And big footprint as well… the internal wooden frame looks lovely … Tell us about that tree as it looks very nice ?

The tree is from AK Interactive. I bought this one from Australia. They are quite expensive around 75 dollars. Very realistic with nice foliage and wire branch armatures. Supposedly the trees are hand made so no two trees are identical. It’s a nice product but pretty pricey but if I was to make it, it would be labor intensive plus the cost of the items needed. AK Interactive also makes bushes and ground cover mats. I bought one mat and I was not impressed. If you are interested in ground cover or mats I highly recommend Martin Welberg’s products sold through Scenic Express. The quality and detail of his products are amazing.

I am waiting for the correct wall to be sent so I can enclose the building. Right now the wooden framing (though glued) is removable. I still have to finish the joist, lay the loft floor planking and build a ladder to the loft. The floor of the barn will be dirt. The barn will have sliding doors. I bought a MiniArt European farm tractor. I don’t know the dimensions but I am hoping it will fit inside. If not it will be parked outside the barn.

Nice!! Maybe distress your wooden bits to reflect the age of the building which could be well over a century old.
 :canada:

It’s still in the building phase

The fence will not be that high. I will insert the posts into the foam. I still need to get another piece of foam for the base. Sorry for the glare but it’s from the stainless table top.

So I didn’t like the way I made the interior so I changed it up. I also made a ladder to gain access to the loft from the outside.

Change again…added loft ladder inside and outside.

Looks awesome!!

The only thing I would say is that the posts and beams look too big.

With the figure in the photo, they look about 18 inches, when they would probably be 8-10.

I agree…the reason I tore it all apart and started rebuild with smaller posts.

Sweet!!

I like that a lot better. Nice work.

Me too…

Question…do you think I should leave the wall off to see all the detail? That’s where I am leaning. Curious about your opinion.
