Let me preface this by stating right up front that I have no familiarity with the HIMARS. In Step 72, what are the implications of Parts M1 and M23 covers being open or closed on their respective rails? In the end, I want to have the missile launcher elevated on my completed model, but in reading ahead in the instructions, I don’t seem to see what difference open or closed covers is going to make. Thanks in advance!

They protect the rails underneath from debris. They’re spring loaded and raise up out of the way when the reloading trolley pushes them up. For firing, leave them in the closed state,
