But no Haupmant would be standing with his hand in his pocket talking to a Generalfeldmarschall.

If you look at pictures of Rommel talking to others from his halftrack(s), all are pretty casual and relaxed. Even other pictures of Rommel outside his halftack seem to show this. So I don’t think it would be unheard of for a captain to be in this pose.
