FW 190 F-8 Build log

it’s been a while but i did manage to move along on the build. after filling and sanding the wing root smooth i primed in white, sprayed the rlm 04 yellow on the cowl then masked that off in preparation for the camo. i then dropped it and cracked the join on the left wing root. i will have to re putty and sand. damn hands not working right anymore!!

i decided to try some pre shading. i have only tried this a couple of times with not great results, i tend to end up spraying too much paint and wiping it out. i used some extra dark sea grey for the shading and i did a decent job of spraying straight lines for a change.

next color is the rlm 76, i will be using hataka’s orange line lacquer for it. i like these paints but it is hard to find the individual bottles now since sprue brothers has stopped stocking them.
the next problem i will have is the rlm 83 dark green. the eduard instructions call for it but there is much confusion as to what color it actually was. i came across some research on verde9.com which is convincing to the fact that it was probably a dark blue used for maritime aircraft not dark green. there may have been a second version of rlm 81 that is being confused with rlm 83.
i compared the rlm 82 i have to the camo color in the instructions and it looks pretty close to what eduard shows as rlm 83. here is some i painted on a sprue as a test comparison to what i seen on verde9.

if there is anyone here that has any input on this i would like to hear it because i am leaning towards using the 82 instead of the 83 but i like to be as accurate as possible. ak real colors makes a rlm 81 version 2 that is a dark green that is supposed to be the color confused with rlm 83 but i don’t think i want to spend the money if i can’t see what the shade of the paint is.
