Two new resin printed 1/35 figures of WWII German Wehrmacht Heavy Machine Gunners
Nice figures, depict the “well laden” look of the machine gunner well. I particularly like the second figure with the ammo belts. This is something frequently missed from German figures. The voracious thirst for ammunition of the MG42 dictated that the whole infantry section usually carried an aditional belt each. Hope his No 2 is forthcoming. Just a comment: he’s clearly Waffen SS, not Wehrmacht and without the tripod, the MG is in the light machine gun role, not HMG/SF. (Edit, no they aren’t Waffen SS, see below.)
What the hell is he meant to have around his ankles?!
Puttees?
When there is no high boots
and no proper gaiters.
Google ‘wickelgamaschen’
I mean, I do discern some buckles, but even war-time canvas/webbing wouldn’t quite appear so I feel(!)
Not to carp for the sake of it but, well……
Could it depend on how well worn the canvas was?
When the starch from the last ironing has been leached out of the cloth?
God knows Robin; probably given that they could be of low grade wartime material they may well get that creased. I just thought it was a bit overdone but what do I know about WW2 German gaiters? Not much, though I do know that the Bundeswehr ones were quite well made.
Interesting that your link gives us the German term for “puttee”, which of course, in true British imperial fashion, we poached from the Hindi word for bandage.
Never let a useful word go to waste

Jodhpur (the boots): I used to wear such boots, very practical and the buckles jingled cheerfully when I had them unbuckled indoors (college).
Swedish has also imported the word ‘bungalow’ (you lot nicked it from Hindi baṅglā ‘belonging to Bengal’), very fancy in the late 50’ies early 60’ies, now they are just a house or a villa (nicked from Italian).
We have been “acquiring” things from other countries since the days of the Vikings,
if it isn’t nailed down we’ll nick it, if it is nailed down we’ll pry it loose and nick it.

Window: from the old Norse vindr (wind) and auga (eye)
Sigh. There was some advantage in sort of owning around 3/4 of the world - even if only to add to the language(!)
As it happens I live in a bungalow. years ago when I was serving in the HQ of Joint Helicopter Command, I was involved in one of those “stand by the coffee machine and yak” type of chats, discussing housing, always relevant to soldiers and officers alike; one of them, I think Royal Navy, upon learning that I had my own house, and to wit, a bungalow, chimed up with “A bungalow Mr Stoddart? (WO1s in the Brit Army often referred to as “Mister”) You need never move again!”
I didn’t quite know what he meant, and thought that perhaps he was being snotty. Fast forward a couple of decades, watching the sad demise of both my parents as they struggled to tackle stairs as age and infirmity prevailed, I realised what he meant.
So, no matter what else, no stair-lifts for me!
Wise words from that RN guy!
Sometimes I amuse myself by checking the internet for interesting houses.
Big enough, reasonable close to food shops, easy to maintain, single level is
difficult since cellars add that extra space for workshop and stash …
These are excellent.
They are Wehrmacht mg gunners wearing the Heer splinter hoodless smock.
With the M43 ankle boots and gemaschen, they work perfect for Normandy.
Very nice, but where can I get them? Is there a manufacturer website or are there US vendors?
Welcome aboard!

At least HobbyEasy and BNA Model World have some items of this brand
Thanks.
You are absolutely right. Looking more carefully at the smock, it does not have the elasticated wrists (it has the tabs) and waist of the SS smock (it has a drawstring) and the helmet cover has the slanting loops for the attachment of foliage. My bad. As for the gaiters, yes as others have said they are too wrinkled, the originals were stiffer, much like British “Anklets, Web”. As for my other comments, I think overall they are nice figures and a bit different.
Looking at the figure… To me the head looks too small and the legs too long The feet are a bit big as well. My opinion.
I was gonna say the same thing, proportions look off a little otherwise it’s a nice figure.
