Mantis Miniatures released a new figure set.
I am having a problem with HER uniform. I NEVER saw a police officer over here with a skirt. Police officers have a unisex uniform with trousers instead of skirts. But I stand corrected if someone proves me wrong.
Well, I’m not sure about the skirt, although the BGS seems to approve them:
But these uniforms - so redolent of my time in Germany - reflect a smart, professional force who one did not mess with. I think these figures - once we’ve sorted out the skirt issue - lend themselves to lots of dioramas, enabling any number of NATO AFVs/Soft Skins to be depicted.
With one of these alongside perhaps:
(there is a Polizei option)
PS: I note they’re labelled as post - 1999 - I’m pretty sure they’re pre-1999, however, I’m not a Polizei Ninja, having only been arrested once(!)
They’ve been released to coincide with AK’s Trabi, as Mantis does for most of AK’s kits.
It reads after 1990. The black jacket of the officer should be painted semi-gloss black since it is a leather jacket.
To the best of my knowledge these uniforms represent the “unified” police uniform which was started to be implemented in west germany from 1976 and was used effectivly from 1979 untill 1995. (in german : bundeseinheitliche Polizeiuniform)
As for the skirt , well the female uniform did have a skirt option , but not above the knee also in practice , unless they had a desk job , most women (not that there where that many ‘in the field’ in 70-80’s) used to wear pants for obviously practical reasons….
HTH,
Sam.
Yes - I noticed the labelling, hence my comment; they’re not, to my mind, after or post 1999 at all.
I still envisage them having considerably utility on the display tables; with a suitable vehicle they would add a little colour perhaps.
That Mercedes is not easy to find, it’s out of stock from many sites it seems.
AFAIK, Diopark went out of business in 2021…
H.P.
I am surprised no one else has picked up the molds as they had interesting boxings.
Definitly would be difficult to chase a criminal on foot with a long skirt.![]()
