Welcome, another Floridian hereā¦I used to live west of Gainesville also, off of Newberry Rd. Now I live in Spring Hill, which is a little west of Brooksville, if you know where that is.

Welcome aboard. Iām in the Tampa area now. Grew up in Inverness form about 6th grade on, then off to Gainesville for collegeā¦Go Gators!! After 23 years in the Army, I retired and settled back down in the Tampa area.

Yes Iām not far from Millhopper road. Just north of Newberry road. Yes, I know where Springhill is, and I also know where Brooksville is. I used to make deliveries all around the area.

I lived in St Pete for about 30+ years and I loved the area, except the traffic. But then my wife and I found a beautiful piece of land outside of Gainesville and moved up here. With the growth in the Tampabay area, forget it if you want to live on an acre or moreā¦ā¦
I had a chance to visit friends in St Pete recently and wholly cow, the place has changed. When I left, I decided to take Gandy bridge to Tampa, and wow! When did they build that elevated section over Gandy on the Tampa side? I remember them talking about an elevated section and a connection to the Cross-town, but the locals didnāt want it and I guess they didnāt get their way. And I see they finally finished 275. It took them what? 10 years??

I am actually out in Valrico, so not really in Tampa proper. I work on MacDill though, so I travel the Crosstown daily. The Gandy Extension has been open for about 3 years now. I275 is not done anymore. They are now redoing the I275/I4 interchange and north past MLK, and building new Howard Frankland I275 bridges across the bay. It is still a mess. I think I275 will always be in some state of construction. I stay off I275 whenever possible.

I know Brooksville. Had a friend from there while I was in college and I took my wife and his sister to see the Grateful Dead in Orlando.
I ended up kicking her out of our group and making her find her own way home because she decided to freak out over some guy she met at the show. Her brother understood.

So now they are doing malfunction junction again? What was it? About 15 or so yrs ago when they built new flyovers?? Yeah, I saw that they were adding a new bridge. Heck, I remember the old one when it was the only one and carried both directions, and then they added the second bridge. I see that the St. Pete side is getting new highways too.
Ah! Macdill. Iāve been there many times. I wonāt say more about it over a clear channel, since I donāt need the attention it could bring.

Well that sure sucks for you guys. When I went to SOF Week I walked everywhere - Publix, hotel, convention center, retsaurants. All except the Ponte American - we had to drive to that one, But near the convention center in the afternoon I could walk four blocks faster than the cars in the street. Sure is different from my day.

I finally got the chance to visit Hurricane Hobbies today. Not many armor kits but they were very friendly and I do miss the mom and pop hobby stores. Definitely going back and I did walk out the door with Dragonās M26A1 Pershing and some paint.
