looks real GOOD so far ,you can add some spots like in this picture if its a old roof .
And don’t forget to add some bird S##$!

it depends on their size and shape as to the size. When I was young, I worked construction and saw several slate roofs installed. How they are attached I really don’t remember as we’re talking 55+ years ago. Most slate tiles I was around were in the 10mm to 12mm thickness range and about 16" by 16" square. There was one job I remember where they were about 16" by 24". One thing I remember quite well is the color changed a little bit as they aged. The slate is cut in slabs from a larger piece (actually sawn). A very expensive roof that will last a lifetime or more.
