Some more progress, the Foc’s’le deck level fittings are mostly done. boats, railings, life rafts to add. The kit pompoms were replaced with Black cat 3d printed parts, nothing wrong with the kit parts, but these were the easier route.

Boats, quarterdeck fittings, mostly depth charge related and the masts to be done.

Some progress over the last few weeks, starting at the bow.

Railings and anchor cables.

midships.

Boats and rafts.

Aft, quarter deck railings, stern depth charge rails, and all eight depth chart throwers, four have their reload racks fitted in place, four more to do. Davits for the boats, masts, jack and ensign staffs, rigging, props etc and I can commission this one, more escort vessels to dome.

A bit more progress.

All the depth gear on the quarterdeck fitted.

,

Apart from the rigging the boats done, I did add some oars from the spare etch box to whaler, the foremast is in place, although not fitted on the below pic is the vestigial main mast.

An overview, all that is needed is the decals for the pennant numbers to put on and the rigging and the jack & ensign staffs.

The mainmast is in place between the vents just aft of the pompom platform.

Should be commissioning within the next 7-10- days, mind this is a British Shipyard, late delivery is likely.

HMS Nadder finally commissioned, well except for the Ensign.

I will have a rummage through my spare decal box, when I can find it, I am in the middle of sorting out the loft, I know it is up there, but where I am not sure.

Overviews

I’ve only just noticed this, she is missing the 2 from the pennant No. That will be an easy fix. I have some spare pennant no.s in the office.

The forecastle deck, and midships.

The Quarterdeck.

All in all a very nice kit to built no real vices I could find, fit was very good, so was the level of detail. A few parts were swaped out, the single 20mm and the single 2pdrs were from Black Cat, the oars in the whaler spares from spare etch box. The anchor cable was 3D printed from Micro Master (not a fan of etched anchor cable).

Thank you for that Tim,

It was a very nice kit to build, and I do the advantage of being retired, so i have a bit more time. Although Mrs Duster is very good at finding me thing to do,

Hi Russ,

Thanks for looking in, It is a nice little kit, Rumor has it Starling may issue a reboot of this kit, but with 3D printed parts. With my love of escort vessels and odd Camo, I may be temped into build another River, or not.

Hello - brand new to to forum. Joined to say thanks for the pictures. My grandad served on Nadder all the way through the war. There’s not much about her online part from the wikipedia entry HMS Nadder - Wikipedia . Newbie question and apologies if this is in the wrong place, any ideas if I could buy a model like this that someone else has put together and painted? Thanks again

Hi Keith, welcome to the forum, I have been posting my builds on here for a few years, there are a very helpful and friendly bunch on here, and very helpful. This kit was from Starling Models, I have checked their website, they are still listing the kit, but if and when it will be available again I don’t know, and unfortunately I don’t have a second one in my stash. I can’t answer your Newbie question, Maybe one of the team on here can answer that for you.
