Nice start.

Made some progress on my M201 VLTT. The FC Model Trend parts come along nice.

Olivier, what do you think?

Very interesting looking vehicle- it is nice to see it at this stage as you can see a lot of the additions you have made to it.

Nice looking project - very illustrative of what needs to be done.

Olivier, thanks for the extra detail shots. My build is in progress, so enough time to add small details. I base my build on some pics from the Tankograd booklet and some references on the net, The double rear bumper is there, just didn´t noticed it.
With ADV Azimut being gone, are there any decent figures for Armeé Francaise in the Cold War?

What about the old Dragon set of Operation Dauget? You’d probably have to convert them though.
Maybe Blacksnake models? There are modern French figs from Djiti and Valkyrie and others off the top of my head but Cold War may be difficult.

Believe it or not, I feel that the old Heller figures build up well enough; you’d have to chop them around a fair bit, and possibly convert using driver figures etc, but they’re not that bad in my opinion. Small Arms are also available:

In use with Hornet Heads - which in a way, I didn’t need as ultimately the Heller helmets were better in size I think:

And the accessory set, which I find very useful:

They wear the NBC suit but they could do the trick with it. However you’ll need to
get rid of the body armor.

Have you tried to contact Azimut owner by phone or e-mail ?
However most of the figures you’ll find are wearing the body armor. I have some figures I can send you.

You can also convert figures as I did for my Milan vignette some years ago.
The gunner and the standing team leader are WW2 US soldiers I dressed up as French Cold war soldiers. The FAMAS were fully scratchbuilt at the time. The kneeling loader is a ADV reference.

There is this guy by KMT wearing the typical “battle dress” for Africa in the 80s.

You’re right. The helmets and weapons are 60s to early 80s time frame. You can swap the headgears and get FAMAS instead of the FSA 49/56 and PM MAT 49.

The biggest issue would be to have a gunner properly sitting on his gunner seat.

Heller? How could I forget Heller?
Tankograd images show no turning indicators or decontamination bottles.

The turning lights were added to comply with the French traffic regulations and the decontamination bottle was standard in all Army vehicles from late 70s. This is weird the M201 on the pictures do not feature them. The time frame of the pictures is mid to late 80s minimum.

The vehicles on the pictures have different tire models. So can keep your kit wheels.

It´s a shame that DML released in their modern serie troops in NBC overgarment. Their Bundeswehr Fallschirmjäger would have been better w/o NBC overgarment and body armour.

I will try to lay my hands on Tiger Model ERC-90. This kit is missing in my collection.

The ERC is not the model in service with the French army but the Mexican one. The turret is different and probably some details as well.

On the pictures posted by Frenchy it’s obvious that not all the M201 were modified with turning lights. So you can save some time not adding them to your model.
