Morning all, with all the recent campaigns and interest in hauling units and tractor/trailers, my wandering mind got to pondering, how did the PAVN get their tanks down south for the 72 offensive? Did they drive them all the way or did they haul them down the trail? Not being a tanker, I don’t know, but it would seem like a lot of wear and fuel driving them that far, especially the T34/85, with their age. If hauled what truck/trailer combo would have been used, and could they have gotten down the Ho Chi Minh trail? I’ve only ever seen pictures of regular trucks on the trail. Anyway, thought it would be a good topic for discussion and possible cool dio idea with a loaded up PT76 or T54 making the trek. Thanks, Wayne

According to one caption I found, these are NVA tanks on the Ho Chi Minh trail in 1975, but another one says 1972…

Well…they started in 1972, and arrived in 1975. Pretty rough going! ![]()

The first PT76s were reported in the late 60s, but only in I Corp and the highlands. The T54s and others at An Loc in 72 would have a lot further to travel, almost to Saigon. Wayne
