Humber Scout Car Antenna Length

Does anyone know the actual length of the Humber Scout Car’s antenna? I assume it would be the same as those on other British vehicles.

Thanks,

Paul

It seems to have regular No. 19 set aerial bases, so yes, standard lengths. The conical base for the ‘A’ set took antennas that came in sections which in 1:35 scale are a hair under 35 mm long (in 1:1 scale: 4 feet, or 122 cm in real-world measurements), and up to four could be fitted together, though never more than two when on the move. That gives you the choice of 35, 70, 105 or 140 mm antennas, though only 35 or 70 mm if the model is intended to show a vehicle on the move, or about to be.

The pillar-type base (with or without ring-shaped protector) for the ‘B’ set would have an antenna that in 1:35 is 17.5 mm long (1:1: 24 inches, AKA 61 cm IRL) — only one length was available.

Mate I can’t add much to what Jakko ( because he’s frickin’ awesome!) has here apart from the antenna was in 4 ft lengths which were added/reduced depending on situation; 4 ft for working environment where a tall antenna would give away location, 8 ft for standard operating environment (which would give up to 10 miles range), 12 ft for longer range comms (not advised whilst on the move) and the longest length for whilst stopped for extended time such as overnight and needing solid/consistent comms.
